Irish PEN/PEN na hÉireann in conversation with Anna Romandash

Anna Romandash is an award-winning journalist from Ukraine and the author of Women of Ukraine: Reportages from the War and Beyond (2023). She was named Media Freedom Ambassador for Ukraine for her reporting work, and her journalism was recognized by the Council of Europe, Internews, and the European Centre for Media and Pluralism. Currently, she is covering the Russian war against Ukraine and is working on a set of reportages on the environmental impact of the invasion as well as Ukraine’s cultural resilience. https://muckrack.com/annaromandash

Following her talk, Anna will join a panel from Irish PEN/PEN na hÉireann who will explore the impact of the full-scale Russian invasion on Ukraine – the war from the perspective of women; the importance of Ukrainian identity and culture; and the challenges inherent in the process of reconciliation.

Catherine Dunne will introduce Anna Romandash.         

Catherine Dunne is the author of twelve novels, and a work of non-fiction, An Unconsidered People (New Island, 2023), her latest novel, A Good Enough Mother (Betimes Books, 2024), won the 2023 European Rapallo Prize for Fiction. https://www.catherinedunneauthor.com/

In memory of Ukrainian writer, war-crimes researcher and human rights activist, Victoria Amelina. Victoria was killed, along with 12 other people, by a Russian missile strike on a pizza restaurant in Kramatorsk on 27th June 2023.  She died on 1st July 2023.
